Sdepa the Jamaican Polar Bear
Deep in the jungle, where bright birds soared through the sky lived a native Jamaican polar bear. His name was Sdepa, with each letter named after the routine his mother wanted him to follow when he was born. The S stood for sleep, then came dance, eat, play and awake. He always felt that something was a bit off key in the acronym of his name but nothing could bother Sdepa.
That was, until one day while walking alone, a giant coconut landed splat on his forehead. Sdepa took one last look and landed on the ground like a wave hitting the shore. Thirty minutes went by, then 60 and finally Sdepa heard the quiet hum of the jungle. Sdepa woke up quickly and realized all he wanted was to be happy forever. This little tiny desire was putting him more off key than his name.
So Sdepa leaped up and walked to the local car store. He arrived and within 10 minutes he took a look at all the glimmering cars, pointed to one and said, “I’ll take that one sir!”. The wind blew in his fur as he drove away, Sdepa thought about his new purchase and realized, this car made me happy when I first bought it, but it’s not what he needed to be happy forever.
Sdepa drove himself next to the travel agency, booked himself a 4 day cruise and left the next morning. The four days passed peacefully and on the fourth night, he looked across the water and realized, this expensive trip made a great experience, but it’s not what he needed to be happy forever.
In a frustrated state, Sdepa made his way home and as he pulled into his driveway, he heard no noise but the hush of the wind, not an animal in sight. Within seconds of opening the door, his friends called out, “Surprise! Welcome Home!” and their smiles lit up the room. At this moment, a switch in Sdepa’s mind went off. Just being with these people made him happy. A happiness that you couldn’t pay for and that night as Sdepa drifted off to sleep, nothing was off key.

FLASH !!!
Sdepa the Polar Bear
In the jungles of southern Jamaica, a young, naïve polar bear named Sdepa was on vacation. Sdepa knew something just wasn't right but couldn’t figure it out.
That was, until one day a coconut landed on him. Sdepa woke up later on and realized at this moment he wanted to be happy forever.
Sdepa decided to buy a car, but afterwards he realized, this car made him happy when he first bought it, but he didn’t need it to be happy forever.
Sdepa drove to the travel agency, booked a 4 day cruise and left. On the last night of the cruise, he realized, the trip wouldn’t make him happy forever.
The Little Reflection
The thematic focus of my writing is happiness. Happiness in my eyes is something that is obtained by making friendships and finding the brighter outlook on everyday situations. In Sdepa’s journey, he hadn’t realized what happiness truly was until he had looked for it. However, there was no need to go out looking, as it was right there. All of his friends and family his happiness and that’s a priceless happiness. Overall, the contrast between this priceless happiness and the happiness Sdepa thought he’d find by buying the car and going on a trip was a very big difference. Definitely this fictional story shows the stronger happiness that is priceless.
