"Money can't buy happiness, but it can make you awfully comfortable while you're being miserable." -Clare Boothe Luce
(bought happiness)
I think this quotation by Clare Boothe Luce means that you can't buy happiness itself but you can buy things that make you happy. In our modern world, people often forget that not everything is about money and grandeur like how big your house is or how expensive your car is. What people need to remember is that being happy is something that cannot be bought but it's really an emotion and state of mind. This reveals the difference between the two sides of happiness, bought happiness and priceless happiness. As children, we looked at family channel stars and saw the happiness Hannah Montana had when she belted out a tune, or Selena Gomez as she acted in Wizards of Waverly Place, the best kids show around. When we saw them, we saw what they had and how that made them laugh away with their new clothing and massive houses. As we grow up, we look back with a different view and see how those things they bought don't make them truly happy but on the inside they could have a lot of things wrong. Maybe we're blinded by their riches and don't see the insecurities they face each day. This makes me look back at Clare Boothe Luce, maybe her riches blinded us too. I have no idea who Clare Boothe Luce is, or what she does for a living, but her being happy is clearly one of her priorities...
